Academic Year Structure.

In Uganda an acamic year for elementary and secondary school runs from early February to mid December.

There are three terms/trimesters in a year;

First term:- In which they are introduced to the new class that they have joined and they do not sit for national exams but all the Home work they are given and all those pieces of work that they are given is taken as there performance for that term.

Second term:-Many of them have got to balance their books with their sports for this is a sports term, so much time is sacrificed for the sports activities carried out for it is in this term that the Sports Day is scheduled. They sit for their Exams. The report cards for this term reflect two sets of results.

Third Term:- The busiest of all terms, for it is the one in which they have to sit for their promotional exams. In this term, the syllabuses of that particular year have to be completed. At the end of this term, the upper level classes sit for their national examinations set by the Uganda Ministry of Education.
